Depression

counselling for depression

Depression is more than having a ‘down day’ and is often underestimated for its continued affect on mental health. It is not something you can ‘snap out of’ and at times can feel so isolating.

It can feel easier sometimes to not talk to anyone and withdraw from others. The fear of either being judged or not understood can be overwhelming.

Depression feels different for everyone, but it does consist of lasting longer than just a few days. Symptoms can vary from feeling tearful to having suicidal thoughts. Suicide and self-harm are still not openly talked. Sometimes people fear being judged, not believed or even at times attention seeking. I want to assure you, if you are experiencing suicidal thoughts or self-harm this is something you can openly discuss with me, and I will take the time to listen and support you.  If however, you are reading this and do feel that you are in immediate danger or in a life-threatening situation please call 999 immediately.
